As of yesterday afternoon, Hurricane Dolly made landfall in extreme southern Texas, bringing lashing winds of 100 miles per hour over the area. The area that was hit the hardest was south padre Island, with significant to structures. The primary threat from dolly now will be the incessant rain, which may cause localized flooding.
Some of the computer models continue to show possible tropical cyclone development from that emerged of Africa next week. Conditions are marginally favorable for further development, so this system will organize slowly over the next couple days. What concerns me is the latitude of this system, it might not go out to sea unlike the system northwest of it. Thus, this system needs to be monitored closely.
