The tropical Atlantic remains quiet and substantial tropical cyclone development is not expected during the next 48 hours.
Nevertheless, the Madden Julian Oscillation pulse is expected to increase about 200 hours from now, enhancing vertical upward motion in the atmosphere.
It should also be noted that the GFS model has been persistent during these past few days about developing a strong tropical cyclone nearly 300 hours from now. As we are nearing closer to the apex of hurricane season, the tropical Atlantic must be monitored closely.
