Hurricane Dolly made landfall at southern Texas early this afternoon as a category 2 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds at 100 MPH with higher gusts. The primary threat right now are the high winds, some damage to structures are expected. Subsequently as the Dolly weakens tonight, rain will be the primary threat, accumulating up to 16 inches at some areas. Elsewhere in the united states, a stationary front associated with two areas of low pressure to the west and east will enhance the chance of precipitation along the southern states. A high pressure is dominant over the northern midwest, thus, the chance of rain is low. The western states will get a break from the heat as several mid latitude cyclones are increasing the potential of rain over the area.
