Tropical Update 6/19/08

As of toady, the tropical wave east of the Lesser Antilles about 50 degrees west has disappeared due to hostile conditions. Nevertheless, vigorous tropical waves are incessantly form at the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), and are moving west. However, they pose no threat because they are too low in latitude, and close to the equator. At the equator, air moves at straight lines, thus, it is inconvenient for a cyclone to form within these tropical waves. Overall the tropics will remain quiet for the remainder of the week, and no development is expected for about 10 days. About 1 or 2 weeks from now, the tropics will have to be monitored due to the fact that conditions will be somewhat favorable at the southwestern Caribbean.
