PLEASE EVERYONE THAT LIVES IN THE GULF COAST, WATCH THE TROPICS CLOSELY THIS WEEKEND. DO NOT BE CAUGHT OFF GUARD, FOR THERE IS A THREATNING SYSTEM IN THE CARIBBEAN.
Tropical Depression #3
As 5AM EDT, tropical depression #3 is located just 20 miles east of South Carolina, with maximum sustained winds of 35 MPH with higher gusts, and moving to the northeast at 5 MPH. It is highly likely that this system will strengthen in to a tropical storm before it makes landfall during Monday morning. This will probably reach peak winds of 50 MPH, which is a minimal tropical storm. Despite the dry air over land, there is a chance that this system can undergo rapid intensification, due to the fact that it is in the Gulf Stream, and might even reach peak winds of 70 MPH. The environmental conditions are favorable for further development because, an anticyclone is located just east of it, allowing the air to diverge, and the sea surface temperatures are warm.
A Threat To The Gulf Coast
An area of low pressure located about 150 miles south of Jamaica is in association with numerous sporadic showers and thunderstorm activity, and is currently moving towards the west-northwest at 19 MPH. Currently, environmental conditions are only marginally favorable for further development as upper level winds are blowing 15-20 knots over it. Nevertheless, it will move in to very favorable conditions, where it might intensify rapidly. There is a chance that this system might become a tropical depression later today or tomorrow, as it continues to get better organized. Some of the global models such as the GFS HWRF GFDL are forecasting this system intensify significantly once it reaches the Gulf of Mexico. This is something residents in the Gulf Of Mexico area will have to watch.
Another Depression Next Week
The GFS, UKMET, CMC unanimously pinpoint possible tropical cyclone development off the coast of Africa next week. This area will have to be watched.
